India's Biggest Problem in Upcoming Years

No
matter how much we shun the fact that India is in deep trouble, and in upcoming
years – things going to get worse. It's not going to stop, problems are on their way. Earlier, I didn’t need to point out a single
issue, which was troubling Indian citizenries but couldn’t stop myself thinking
more about it. After all, I can never avoid reading newspapers, which, by some
extent, make matter more pathetic for me. For instance, on a good day I read
about three murders and two rape cases; and on a bad day, the running total is
surely more than the above-mentioned numbers. With these horrific reports, I
encounter with the Indian rupee fall against the American dollar, due to which,
festive season (Diwali) is a little dry as people don’t have much cash-in-hand to shop. Day
by day, problems for India is increasing. But one problem needs to addressed as
quickly as possible.
The problem is of –
Unemployment.
As I have named the
problem, I would like to share an incident (most probably a news report). It is
as recent as yesterday and must be fresh in your mind. It is the Amritsar Train
Tragedy.
I assume that you know
about the Train Tragedy as I write further. If you aren’t conscious about it,
(to know more about it).
Two or three days later
(after the tragedy), I was surfing for news reports on Economics Times or
Hindustan Times (which application, I don’t recall) when I stumbled upon a sad
and shocking report. It read – Injured robbed of belongings, even the dead
weren’t spared after Amritsar Train Tragedy. More or less, this clarifies that there are people
in India, who rob dead people’s belongings. Also, people in India are immensely
running out of jobs as there were people, who were busy recording videos of
dead bodies. Instead of helping policemen and male nurses to carry the bodies
of the dead. This incident shook me from inside and sent an alarming thought in
my mind, which gave birth to a number of questions:
Have people lost sympathy
for others? Is humanity coming to an end? Are people so jobless that they need
to steal from cadavers? Can’t they feel
the pain of a dead human beings? Or their families?
Well, these questions
might remain unanswered for a long time. But I don’t care about that. What I
care, right now, is about the families of people who died. They received compensations,
but it won’t last forever. They know it too. Those families, with only one male
member working, would they ever be able to earn a living for themselves without
a qualification? In this world of Digital India and Make in India (a failed
project), even the qualified people aren’t getting jobs and Indian rupee’s
decline against the American Dollar – Foreign firms are hesitating to invest in
India as they fear failure. Though India is a center of
consumption for the world, one of the largest markets in the world, the
forthcoming economic crisis is foreseeable. It might affect India’s balance of
payment to an irrecoverable extent (cannot be certain about it), putting India
into major deficit.
As you all know, everything
is interconnected. But my major concern remains unemployment because of the
following reasons:
- Jobless people might create a nuisance, and it may encourage them to do illegal activities
- Unemployment is a boon to terrorist organizations
- Social discomfort to the youth
- Eventually, it may lead to closing down of firms and banks
- Lastly, (well everyone knows what happens next)
Agree
or not, unemployment is increasing at a pace of bullet train. Even though we
feel that the current situation is relatively better and sounds amazing in front
of the possibilities mentioned above, even today, it has numerous side effects.
One of the effects is competition in education, which every student faces.
If I had to conclude
this article, I need not present a solution to this problem.
As far as I understand to the best of my capabilities, I see
unemployment as a threat to humanity (in general). This problem, which I always
say, must be addressed by the government at the earliest. Moreover, I would
like to leave another fact on your table (that might leave you in awe) – which is
- 82% of male and 92%
of female workers earn less than Rs 10,000 a month. (Source is Official State
of Working India report, which points out India’s incapability of converting economic growth into good jobs)
Thank you for reading!
Amay Saxena!
